The Paradox Of Time And Roses…

by Yvonne Ruke Akpoveta

Life has a way of throwing us lemons, and some good things of course along the way, but life also has a way of keeping us busy and chasing after many things attached with a long to-do list.

As I was scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed this morning, I came across a blog titled “If God Rested, Why Don’t We”, but I scrolled past it quickly so I could get on with my day, after all my to-do list is hitting the ground, and yesterday seemed to have gone by too too quickly with not enough done.

But something made me take second look, the blog title alone made me question if I had my priorities right, and if I was not doing myself a disservice by not carving out time to purposefully rest at least once a week.

When I have any free time, I can’t imagine not picking up my to-do list to tackle something, hard as I might try not to. And no, I’m not a workaholic (I think I have one or two friends that would testify to that? Lol) … But when there is so much to do, how can I justify watching TV or simply relaxing and reading a book? After all, were we not taught that ‘time waits for no one’? Yet we are told to ‘take time to smell the roses’. Hmmmmm. Paradox anyone?

If you are not already doing so, I encourage you to rest, recharge and reenergise.
